Stay in the loop with all the happenings of the Vonnegut Library by signing up for our mailing list.

With only two full-time staff members, we rely on kind volunteers! Come organize books for the library, staff our booth at festivals, fundraise, write, prepare mailers, help with special events, and (if you’re a CPA) help with our 990 filing. Here’s how to get started.

To open the doors of the Kurt Vonnegut Memorial Library and to provide robust programming, we rely on the financial support of individual donors, foundations and companies. We need monetary donations as well as donations of books and any skills/services that you or your organization can offer. Please email Julia Whitehead or call 317.652.1954 for more information.

There’s only one rule that I know of, babies – ‘God damn it, you’ve got to be kind.’” – Kurt Vonnegut

If mailing a donation, please make checks payable to:

Kurt Vonnegut Memorial Library
The Emelie Building
340 N. Senate Avenue

Contributions to the library are tax deductible as allowable by law. Please note, however, that there are certain limitations on the deductibility of contributions to all Code Section 501(c)(3) organizations. Accordingly, consult your own tax advisor in determining the federal, state, local and/or foreign tax consequences of your contribution. Thank you for your support!

Planned Giving

Your will is an expression of the values and beliefs that have guided your life and is an excellent way to provide for those individuals, organizations and causes that have been important to you.

The Vonnegut Library supports language and visual arts education through programs and outreach designed to foster a strong arts community. We seek to inspire and promote insightful writing and to engage people in thinking about and expressing themselves with the written word.

Please consider including the library in your estate plans. If you have already made a bequest or plan to do so, let us know; we would like to express our gratitude to you now for your generosity.

A provision for the Vonnegut Library can be made in your will with language as simple as:

“I give, devise, and bequeath to the Kurt Vonnegut Memorial Library, 340 N. Senate Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46204, an Indiana not-for-profit organization, the sum of $____ (dollar amount) or ____% (percentage) of my estate (or residue of my estate) for the purpose of supporting the programs, activities, and operations of the Kurt Vonnegut Memorial Library.”

The Vonnegut Library is an IRS 501(c)(3) organization.
