The KVML is holding our first writing contest, “An Introduction to Kurt Vonnegut.” The first place winner will receive two tickets to “A Night of Vonnegut” on May 8th. First, second, and third place winners will have their stories posted on the KVML blog.
How were you first introduced to Vonnegut? Did someone recommend his work to you? Were you assigned to read Slaughterhouse Five at school? Did you see him interviewed on the Daily Show? Or were you exposed to his art before his writing? What drew you to Vonnegut? We want to know your story.
Please keep your entries under 1000 words and include a cover sheet with your contact information. Winners will be contacted April 30th. Thank you for your participation and continued support.
Send us your “Introduction to Kurt Vonnegut” story emailed or postmarked by April 16 to:

Today I was at the Goodwill Outlet Store on Portland Rd. in Salem, Or. and I picked up his book! The One called SLAPSTICK or LONESOME NO MORE. Copyright, 1976, First Delacorte printing, limited edition, Designed By Joel Schick. Dedicated to the memory of ARTHUR STANLEY JEFFERSON and NORVELL HARDY, two angels of my time. No dust jacket slip, which is the box cover. This is signed. Very crisp, white and perfect pages of printing, NO ONE FLAW ON ANY PAGES! So clean in all respects! I will read it this week and get back to post a review. It is for sale also, so if anyone is having a hard time finding one as this, contact me.
