A Book and Brew with KVML Curator Chris Lafave

In celebration of the 2017 Year of Vonnegut, Spark Placemaking in partnership with the Kurt Vonnegut Museum and Library (KVML) is hosting a series of Kurt Vonnegut short story readings and discussions from August through October. Each month, KVML Curator Chris Lafave will select a few short stories for the group to read from Vonnegut’s Welcome to the Monkey House collection.

Each discussion will be held at City Market’s Mezzanine level near the Tomlinson Tap Room from 6 to 8 pm. Enjoy a beer while discussing Vonnegut!

Our first event on Wednesday, August 30 was a big success. Ten hardcore Vonnegut fans got together to discuss “Harrison Bergeron,” “Adam,” and “The Foster Portfolio.” And guess what! One of our friends, Dave surprised his wife for her birthday and brought her to the event, so a book club turned into a fun birthday celebration, as well. It wasn’t Happy Birthday Wanda June, but it was Happy Birthday, Nikki Hall, and it was great fun.

Join us for our next event on Wednesday, September 20th. We’ll read “Deer in the Works,” “Miss Temptation,” and “Unready to Wear.”

Our final event is Wednesday, October 25th: Please read “All the Kings Horses,” “Who Am I This Time?” and “More Stately Mansions.”

Limited copies available at the Tube Factory artspace (contact [email protected] for a copy) and for sale at cost at The Kurt Vonnegut Museum and Library, 340 N. Senate Avenue ([email protected]).
