"Kurt Vonnegut Museum and Library champions the legacy of Kurt Vonnegut and the principles of free expression and common decency."
We're Going to Party Like it's 1922!
In 2022, we will celebrate Kurt Vonnegut's 100th birthday. Mark your calendar for three major events:
April 10: Our annual Night of Vonnegut gala and celebration of KVML becoming the first Literary Landmark site in Indiana.
May 7: Remember when Vonnegut wrote in his Sports Illustrated article: "The horse jumped over the f****** fence?" Well, horses (likely) won't be jumping fences at Kentucky Derby, but Vonnegut loved the Derby just the same. Join us as we celebrate the Derby on May 7th. We'll bring the mint juleps, you bring the hats.
November 12: We'll tear up the dance floor with the Charleston at our 1922 themed party for Kurt's birthday.
Youth Writing Program
The purpose of our Youth Writing Program is to offer a safe space, at this time a virtual one, where mentors can engage with Indianapolis youth through the written word so they can be inspired, empowered, and heard. Arts in the Park Veterans Workshop
Writing in Peace, a program of the Kurt Vonnegut Museum and Library in partnership with Turkey Run State Park, is a writing workshop for veterans. Led by award-winning writer Bonnie Maurer, the program will occur at Turkey Run State Park with programs both outside in the park and inside a conference room at the park inn.
The KVML at 543 Indiana Avenue remains open to the public.
