Mickey Maurer Film Screening and Civic Engagement Interview with Una Osili
June 14 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm
About this Event
As part of Kurt Vonnegut Museum and Library’s (KVML’s) mission and 2020 theme of civic engagement, you are invited to watch a film and hear from a civic leader on today’s hot topics. KVML produced a documentary film titled “My Friend Mickey: Common Decency and the American Dream” that was shown in the Heartland International Film Festival in 2018 and the Love International Film Festival in 2019 in Santa Barbara, CA, where it was nominated for best feature-length documentary. This film chronicled the life of Hoosier Mickey Maurer: philanthropist, civic leader, businessman, First Amendment champion, and more. With the purchase of a ticket, you’ll have two weeks to watch this film (we will send you the password-protected link). Mickey’s interview with Una Osili live on Zoom is scheduled for June 14th at 4 p.m. Bring your questions to the Chat Box. You may ask about civic engagement, business survival during the pandemic, free speech, and any other topics you may find of interest.
Mickey will be interviewed by Una O. Osili, Ph.D., an economist with significant experience in research and policy in the fields of household behavior and economic policy. She is also Associate Dean for Research and International Programs at the Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy, the world’s first school dedicated to increasing the understanding of philanthropy and improving its practice worldwide.
