The Thanks to Kurt Project
Thanks to Kurt is a growing collection of open letters to Kurt Vonnegut. And in the spirit of Kurt, all submissions are accepted and published exactly as they are received. No editing. No censoring.
It’s not about writing the funniest or most beautiful letter. It’s about having an experience and the guts to share it.
Our hopes for the Thanks to Kurt project:
- That the letters will reflect how the wit and wisdom of Vonnegut touches people from all over the world, at all stages of life, and at all level of grammatical and punctual sophistication.
- That you’ll find some letters you love and share. And then that write your own.
- That we’ll figure out something really, really cool to do with our favorite letters we receive throughout the year. It’s a new idea, so we’re playing our cards close to our chest, but we want you to know that we’re dreaming about bigger things. (We strongly prefer happy surprises to unfulfilled promises.)
The Thanks To Kurt project is an initiative of the Kurt Vonnegut Memorial Library in partnership with IndyHub. You’re probably already familiar with us here at the KVML, but IndyHub may be new to you. So, here’s a bit about those guys and why we’re working with them:
IndyHub–a nonprofit centered on the value of civic engagement–supports organizations and initiatives throughout Indianapolis. As such, they’ve been critical partner in the conception of the Thanks to Kurt project and continue to be active in both in its daily management and strategic growth.
