2020 Voting Information for Marion County and Indiana Residents

Below is detailed information for voting in Kurt Vonnegut’s home state of Indiana and specifically in Indianapolis (Marion County), home of the Kurt Vonnegut Museum and Library:

For the state’s primary election rescheduled for June 2, 2020, the Indiana Election Commission voted to allow anyone the option to vote by mail without a reason due to the COVID-19 health emergency.

On April 13, the Indianapolis City Council voted to provide funding to mail applications and ballots to voters for the June primary as well as the general election in November.

An original signature must be on the application to be considered valid. An electronic signature may cause your ballot to be rejected during the signature verification process.

HOW TO RETURN A VOTE-BY-MAIL ABSENTEE BALLOT IN MARION COUNTY BEFORE JUNE 2* DEADLINE

Applications Must Be Received by Tuesday, June 2, 2020 at Noon

  • Mail Your Completed and Signed Vote-By-Mail Absentee Ballot* no later than seven days prior to the noon deadline of June 2, 2020 – so no later than May 26, 2020. Mail to: 3737 E. Washington St., Indianapolis, IN 46201.

  • Fax: 317-327-4815 by June 2, 2020 at noon.
  • Hand Deliver: Election Service Center, 3737 E. Washington St., Indianapolis, IN 46201 (10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on business days that are a Monday, Wednesday or Friday only).

HOW TO VOTE IN PERSON PRIOR TO THE JUNE 2 PRIMARY

For the June 2, 2020 primary election, early in-person voting is reduced to Tuesday, May 26, 2020 to noon on Monday, June 1, 2020 pursuant to IEC Order 2020-40.  Please contact your county election board for more details. (See link above.)
